About us - Personal Comfort Ltd

Personal Comfort as a small owner run business has a specific purpose. It is there to support Christopher MacGovern through his training with Relate as a couple counsellor.

"I used to work as a designer in the IT business. It was an exciting place to be and over the last nearly 20 year provided me many great opportunities. However as I moved passed forty I began to find that excitement less appealing and additionally was becoming aware that it is very much a young persons world."

Christopher had always been interested in psychology and working with people and if he was going orchestrate a mid life career change, this area seemed to be good option.

"All the people I knew working in the 'talk therapy' world seemed to enjoy lengthy, happy and balanced lives. Doing the training I now realise that in order to help someone, you have to start with yourself."

He set up Personal Comfort a couple of years ago to support him while undergoing the lengthy training.

"It'll take four years part time study to get initial qualifications. My work with Personal Comfort provides the perfect partner to the two to three days a week I devote to that course work. Despite possible appearances, Personal Comfort really is run from the spare room and as long as it continues to pay the bills while I am training, it will probably stay that way."

Christopher is working as a couple counsellor with Relate while doing their training. To meet it's need for highly qualified counsellors, Relate has become one of the bigger training providers in the UK. Employing more than 2,000 counsellors, it has an excellent grasp of what is needed to provide real, effective services. This is reflected in the quality of the training, which combines wisdom from decades of experience with latest theoretical perspectives.
